How to Make a Cozy Christmas Cat Card

Today’s card is all about cozy holiday charm, a Christmas cat and a touch of vintage elegance. There’s something magical about decorating the tree, curling up in a cozy chair, and soaking up the Christmas warmth. I always love sitting in the glow of the tree lights with a hot cup of tea and Christmas music playing softly in the background. It’s the perfect way to start (or end) a day!

A Christmas Cat Paradise!

I combined Yana’s Christmas Cats with the coordinating accessory dies to create this warm and inviting holiday scene. In front of this cute scene is an adorable kitty, completely relaxed beneath the Christmas tree. He’s sporting a festive Santa hat and looking perfectly content.

Vintage Framing

I framed the scene using the Greenwich Market Die & 3D Embossing Folder. This combo works together, first by die-cutting the frame shape, and then by positioning it in the embossing folder to achieve the texture. I used a matte gold paper, giving the frame an elegance perfect for Christmas. The Greenwich Market Dies includes an inner mat die which I cut from patterned paper that I had in my stash. It has a small brick wall pattern that I thought worked well as a backdrop.

In order to create a card base, I cut out two more frames from Alabaster cardstock but did not 3D emboss them. I glued the gold textured frame to one of the extras and attached the second extra using the hinge method described at the beginning of this post. Obviously, today’s card isn’t an arch shape, but I used the same technique. I love being able to make any shape into a folded card!

Christmas Cat Accessories

Continuing on, the decorated tree was die-cut using Christmas Cats Accessories. I cut all of the pieces from white cardstock and then used various Distress Oxide Inks to color each one. The silver ornament tops were colored with a Marvy Uchida Silver Marker. I love having both the silver and gold markers for quick jobs such as this!

Using the Christmas Cats Dies, I cut the lounging cat from white cardstock and ink blended with Black Soot and Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink. I was aiming for it to look like a cat that I had when I was growing up, and I think it’s pretty close. 🙂 I love how the dies cut out the cats in layers, making it super easy to customize.

Finally, I completed the card with a Meowy Christmas Sentiment which reads, “Merry Catmas”. This sentiment set is a Press & Foil set, which means it can be used with the BetterPress System or the Glimmer Hot Foil System. I used the foiling system with Silver foil, transferring onto black cardstock.
