The Ultimate Christmas Cat-astrophe

Ever feel like Christmas is one long exercise in keeping everything from falling apart? The decorations are going up, the to-do list keeps growing, and someone is bound to make a mess of things. I can just imagine the cat climbing the Christmas tree while everyone else tries to keep their holiday spirit intact!

Spellbinders’ Merry Mayhem Collection is perfect for anyone who finds the holidays a little more exhausting than magical. I love the idea of celebrating the funny, imperfect moments of Christmas instead of pretending everything always goes according to plan. Sometimes, you just have to laugh right through the chaos!

Mayhem Meets Cat-astrophe!

For this project, I paired the frustrated reindeer from Spellbinders’ Merry Mayhem, Rein It In with a mischievous tabby from Yana’s Christmas Cats. The tree and decorations are from Christmas Cats Accessories dies. The reindeer looks absolutely fed up as he yells at the cat, who is busy climbing the Christmas tree.

Texture For the Background

To create this fun little scene, I started with the background, using Holiday Check 3D Embossing Folder on an Alabaster panel. The floor is cut from Celestial ColorWheel Cardstock, giving the scene its base.

What’s Christmas Without Some Chaos?

While the Christmas Cats and Rein It In are from separate collections, they worked well together for this card, and I had fun combining them to tell a little story. The Rein It In die set offers plenty of opportunities for humorous holiday designs, and pairing it with Yana’s Christmas Cats takes the mischief to another level. After all, what’s Christmas without a little chaos?

Joy-ish Sentiments

The greeting is from Joy-ish Sentiments and really brings the whole scene together: “Fa la la la, we tried.” Isn’t that the perfect greeting for those days when your Christmas plans have gone completely off the rails? It’s funny, relatable, and a refreshing change from the usual sweet and sentimental holiday messages.

In Need of a Good Laugh

I think this card would be perfect for anyone who appreciates a good laugh during the busiest time of the year. We all know someone who could use a reminder that it’s okay if the tree isn’t perfect, the decorations aren’t quite straight, and the holiday spirit occasionally takes a vacation.

Because sometimes, the best Christmas memories aren’t the perfectly planned ones. They’re the moments when everything goes wrong, everyone gets a little frazzled, and you end up laughing about it later. Here’s another Christmas cat card that I previously shared: Cozy Christmas.

So go ahead and pour yourself another cup of coffee, take a deep breath, and remember: Fa la la la, we tried!

Until next time,

~Krista
