Who says a snowman has to be white? Sometimes, a little purple is just what you need to make a winter scene feel extra special! For this card, I pulled together shades of purple, a bit of shiny foil, and the cutest lavender snowman who’s feeling the joy of a snowy winter day.
I chose five purple tones from Spellbinders’ ColorWheel Cardstock: Fairytale, Lavender, Lilac, Orchid & Violet. So, let’s take a look at how it all came together.
A Fabulous Foiled Background

For the background, I used the Press & Foil of the Month, Sparkling Bright. This plate creates a pattern of radiating light and movement and can be foiled or pressed. I chose to foil it using the Glimmer Hot Foil System with Lavender Petal Foil onto a panel of Lilac ColorWheel Cardstock. With the tone on tone colors, the foil adds a beautiful shimmer that doesn’t over-power the scene.
Building a Snowman
I used Spellbinders’ Small Die of the Month, Frosty Tweet Friends, to build my snowman. I love that this die set has two ways to create this cute fella; one is forward facing, smoking a corncob pipe, and another is facing up with his tongue sticking out! Having options is wonderful, right?
For today’s card, I opted for the upward facing snowman. His body, head and arms were cut from Fairytale ColorWheel Cardstock, which is a very light, subtle color, but perfect for this purple inspired snowman!
His open mouth was cut from Violet ColorWheel Cardstock, while his tongue and carrot nose were cut from Orchid.
The snowman’s scarf and mittens were cut from Lavender ColorWheel Cardstock, and the mitten trim is from Orchid. I added some Stickles Glitter Glue-Star Dust, to the scarf, giving it a bit of sparkle.
Falling Snowflakes and a Greeting

To complete the card, all that was needed were some falling snowflakes and a sentiment. I scattered some white snowflakes around the snowman, making sure to place one on his out-stretched tongue! That one snowflake just makes the card, don’t you think?
The sentiment says “Making Spirits Bright” which is part of the Press & Foil Club that I used on the background. For this, I used the LetterPress Betterpress System along with some purple ink and white cardstock. Once again, I love the versatility of having products with mulitiple uses!
The End Result-a Purple Snowman Card!

I’ll admit that I wasn’t sure I could pull off a purple snowman, but I think the pale Fairytale cardstock made it possible! Otherwise, my snowman may have looked like a grape…ewww! 🙂
The combination of the Frosty Tweet Friends dies and the Sparkling Bright foiled background makes this card both playful and festive. With the purple color theme, it’s an unexpected surprise and I hope you liked it.
As always, I enjoy finding ways to mix the products from my Spellbinders clubs. I have to tell you; they make it EASY because it’s all meant to coordinate!
Until next time,
~Krista
