Happy May, everyone! I’m excited to show you a card that I made using four different parts of Spellbinder’s May All-Clubs Crate. These are available TODAY for new subscribers! My focal point for today’s card is the Large Die of the Month, Pop of Summer, which features a pop can and all of the summer themed pieces to dress it up. This includes a tropical parrot that I just adore, along with an umbrella, citrus slice, watermelon, a cute rainbow and more.
Hello Summer!
Everything about the May clubs revolve around a summer theme and I just love that! In the background, I used the Press and Foil Club, Up & Away. It was foiled with satin pastel pink on a Blush ColorWheel Cardstock panel.
A Sunny Radiant Day!
In order to ground the soda can, I textured a 1″ strip of Poppy ColorWheel Cardstock with the 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, Radiant Day. This folder has a repeat pattern of the sun and is perfect for your summer cardmaking sessions!
Pop of Summer in Monotone
I wanted the parrot to be colorful and the star of the show, so I kept the pop can more muted. I was able to accomplish that using only green tones of Fern, Rain Forest and Peridot ColorWheel Cardstock. The straw was cut from Bees Wax and Saffron ColorWheel Cardstock. Both the straw and pop can were popped up with foam tape.
Additionally, I repeated the green tones for the leaves from Pop of Summer, which act as a frame for the card.

After that, I was ready to create the bird, and I pulled in the Poppy, Rain Forest and Saffron colors that were already used on the card. Additionally, I added a pop of purple to his wings, using Lilac ColorWheel Cardstock. I added foam tape to the back of the parrot and placed him onto the card. I can’t wait to pair this bird with Free Hugs Oscar, as I shared in this previous post.
Burst of Summer
Finally, I added sentiments from the Stamp & Die of the Month, Burst of Summer. After cutting them out with their coordinating dies, I adhered “HELLO” to the pop can, and “Hope your summer starts off right” at the bottom of the card.
