City Holiday in the Springtime

Happy Mother’s Day, Ladies! This delightful card captures the charm of a whimsical city storefront using Yana Smakula’s City Holiday Collection and its newest additions, Everyday Awnings and Everyday Windows. The soft pink building instantly draws the eye, creating a cheerful foundation that feels both playful and inviting.

A Building with Texture

To give the structure a realistic touch, the background was embossed with the Brick by Brick 3D embossing folder. This added texture mimics the look of a true brick façade, bringing depth and dimension to the design while keeping the overall feel light and fun. Since the building die is quite large, I opted to create an A6 sized card which measures 4.5″ x 6.25″.

Classic Awnings & Windows

With Everyday Awnings, I added a bold and classic element with red and white striped awnings. These eye-catching details frame the windows beautifully and guide your gaze across the card, adding movement and balance without overwhelming the scene.

With the addition of Everyday Windows, the building really comes to life. These elements provide structure and create the perfect spaces for adding charming details. Beneath each window, colorful flower boxes burst with personality, adding bright pops of color that contrast beautifully against the pink background.

All together, these elements create a lively and welcoming storefront that feels full of character. The combination of texture, color, and layered details shows how easy it is to build a cohesive scene with just a few well-chosen pieces. I used a sentiment from Ears to Spring, giving this card its final touch. I first introduced this stamp set here.

This design is incredibly versatile and could be adapted for a variety of occasions simply by changing the color palette or adding a sentiment. It’s a fun and creative way to bring a little city charm to your cardmaking. The original City Holiday Collection was created for Christmas cards, but with these newest additions, the entire bundle is perfect for every season and occasion!
