Thanksgiving is all about good food, family, and giving thanks—and let’s be honest, stretchy pants deserve a little recognition, too!
Thankful for Stretchy Pants!
For this card, I created a cozy little scene with a die-cut turkey lounging in front of a window. The turkey is available with the September All-Clubs Crate and is one of the exclusive crate freebies! I must say that he works perfectly with the sentiment, “thankful for stretchy pants”, which is from Stuffed with Gratitude, the Stamp & Die of the Month.
I love having a variety of sentiments for my fall cards and Stuffed with Gratitude fits the bill. It’s full of the usual autumn sayings, but also includes some silly ones, like on today’s card. I also like “Thanksgiving calories don’t count” and “Grateful, thankful & extra full”! I could go on, but I digress. So, let’s look at today’s card! 🙂
Choosing a Color Palette
As with most of my cards lately, I pulled out my Color Cubes and after browsing through some different options, I settled on today’s color palette, card #104. With hues of orange, burgundy and blue, this card came together with ease. I usually take the liberty of adding a neutral color, and today I added two-brown and cream.
Making a Scene
I love creating scenes on my cards, so I pulled out the Christmas Cat’s Window View Dies and made a cozy spot for the turkey to sit. Outside, the sky is looking pretty blustery with the help of Whimsical Skies 3D Embossing Folder. As I mentioned in a previous post, this has been a favorite of mine and one that I reach for often!
Using dies from Sunflowers & Showers, I added a few colorful autumn leaves swirling through the air. I love how the embossed background gives movement to the leaves, making it look like the perfect fall day to curl up with stretchy pants on and a cup of hot cocoa!
Creating the Turkey
As I previously mentioned, the Too Much Turkey die set is exclusive and only comes with the All-Clubs Crate. Another exclusive set is Hello Foxy, making the Crate an even sweeter deal!
After die-cutting all of the turkey pieces, I put him together, drew in some orange marker lines and added some wiggly eyes. I used foam dots to pop up the turkey at the base of the window.
Stuffed with Gratitude
The sentiment, “Thankful for stretchy pants,” might be one of the most appropriate Thanksgiving sentiments ever. After all, once we’ve gorged ourselves with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, pie, and all the other Thanksgiving goodies, a little extra room for the waistline is certainly welcome! If only I could curl up after Thanksgiving dinner and lounge like this turkey-but, alas-I must do the dishes first. Stuffed with Gratitude even has a sentiment for that!
I love adding a bit of humor to my holiday cards, and this one definitely makes me smile. It’s a simple fall scene with a sentiment that pretty much says it all. Once again, I must say that Spellbinder’s monthly clubs always amaze me! I know that I’ll be using pieces from this club for years to come.
