I finally had a moment to sit down and play with the products from Waffle Flower’s August Sneak Peek Club! Let me just say…if you love owls, then I think you’ll love their upcoming release! The club products I’m sharing today, will not be available until September, as the current club is only open until the 15th.
I enjoy getting a preview of what coming, and that’s just what the Sneak Peek Club does! It’s affordable, shipping is free and I can pause at any time. What’s not to love?!
As my first step, I sat down with a Color Cube, looking for just the right color combination. I wanted to try something a bit different and finally settled on card #307. The colors are reminiscent of a gorgeous sunset, and I had to give it a try. I’ll admit that I’ve never made a purple owl before, but he’s kinda cute. 🙂
Sneak Peek-Owl Duo Dies
With a color theme chosen, I began by die-cutting the owl from Alabaster ColorWheel Cardstock. Using the Owl Duo Die, I chose the right-facing owl and placed it on my Grip Mat. Using the coordinating stencil that comes with the owl die set, I ink blended using Milled Lavender, Dusty Concord, Villainous Potion and Black Soot Distress Oxide Inks.
Sneak Peek-Autumn Branch Dies
Next, I used the Autumn Branch Dies to cut out the branch and leaves, again from Alabaster cardstock. Placing these pieces onto the Grip Mat, I ink blended using Victorian Velvet, Lumberjack Plaid and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Inks.
Continuing on, it was time to choose a backdrop, and I struggled a bit to find the right fit. I tried stenciling some different backgrounds, but they all ended up looking too busy. Finally, I pulled out my Lawn Fawn Gleeful Gradients paper and found the perfect piece!
Sneak Peek-Real Hoot Stamps
Cutting it to measure 4.25″ x 5.5″, I stamped a sentiment from the Real Hoot Stamp Set directly onto it. I then began placing the die-cut pieces where I thought they’d look good.
Adding the Perfect Frame
That’s when I decided that something was still missing…a frame! I pulled out the Nesting Piercing Ticket Frames and cut the largest die from a long-retired Stampin’ Up color-Concord Crush. This matched the deep purple tone on the Color Cube card perfectly!
Once the frame was adhered to the background, the branch and leaves were glued down. I placed foam tape onto the back of the owl, giving him just a bit of dimension. I think that the leaves in the upper corner helped balance everything!
Adding Some Glam
Finally, and because every card deserves a bit of sparkle, I scattered some sequins around and glued them into place.
This card definitely has me looking forward to fall crafting! I know we’re still enjoying summer, but I’m always happy when those first fall products start making an appearance. Give me colorful leaves, cute critters, and a cozy color palette, and I’m ready to craft!
Owls in September
