Creating cards that feel both polished and personal can sometimes come down to one key element: the sentiment. While backgrounds, textures, and foiling techniques certainly add beauty, it’s the words that truly connect with the recipient. That’s exactly why the Essentially Yours Sentiments collection shines—it offers timeless phrases that turn any design into something meaningful.
For today’s cards, I paired the Windmills and Tulips Press & Foil designs with two very different color palettes. This lets the sentiments take center stage in each finished piece. I first introduced Windmills and Tulips here.

“With Sympathy” in Calm Blue Tones
The first card features a soft ombré blue background, made with Lawn Fawn’s Watercolor Wishes 6×6 paper. The cool palette creates a calm mood—perfect for a sympathy card. I added Cobalt Blue foiling to the windmill plate, allowing the shine to catch the light without overpowering the design. The “With Sympathy” sentiment from Essentially Yours Sentiments fits effortlessly here.
If you’ve never foiled before, let me introduce you to Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System! Used in combination with your die-cutting machine (Big Shot, Platinum, Vagabond, and others), the hot foiling system creates STUNNING results. I absolutely love mine, which my husband gifted to me a couple Christmas’s ago. With the glimmer hot foil system, the creative opportunities never end!

Happy Colors for “Get Well Soon”
The second card takes a more uplifting approach. A blended background of yellow and pink combined with copper foiling, creates warmth and energy. The floral elements from Windmills & Tulips feel cheerful and lively against this backdrop, (a retired Stampin’ Up paper). For this card, the “Get Well Soon” sentiment was the perfect choice.
Valuable & Versatile Sentiments
What makes Essentially Yours Sentiments so valuable in a card maker’s toolkit? It’s their versatility! Whether you’re creating something soft and subdued or bright and uplifting, these sentiments adapt seamlessly. They’re designed in a way that complements rather than competes.
Sentiments that Complete a Card
While the Windmills & Tulips elements and foiling techniques add beauty, it’s the sentiments that truly complete the cards. They transform them from simply “pretty” into something heartfelt and purposeful.
If you’re looking to streamline your crafting, Essentially Yours Sentiments is a must-have. It’s one of those collections that proves the right words really do make all the difference.
