Make Amazing Golf-Themed Cards for Him & Her

Waffle Flower makes it easy to create stunning golf-themed cards for him and her! Their new Gone Golfing release is amazing and full of possibilities! Today I’m sharing two cards that show just how differently you can use these products.

I decided to take two completely different approaches with my cards. The first is definitely geared toward the ladies, with a pretty pink color palette and a little more feminine feel. The second takes things in the opposite direction with shades of green and gray for a classic, masculine look. Same golf theme, but two very different cards!

A Pretty Pink Golf-Themed Card

Let’s start with the pink card. I had so much fun giving this card a feminine twist. Instead of sticking with greens and neutrals, I reached for shades of pink, purple and yellow to create a cheerful golf-themed card.

To create the postage stamps, I die-cut and used the inserts from Postage Collage Block Die. These fit perfectly into the Postage Collage Die. While I could have simply stenciled onto the latter die, I like the dimension of using the inserts. PLUS…if I make a mistake, it’s easier to correct! Such was the case with my first attempt, which I’ll explain in the next paragraph.

Mistake Made, Lesson Learned

I placed the white “insert” pieces onto a Grip Mat and then used the Postage Collage Air Mail Stencils to create the sky. The ink colors I used were Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink. My initial thought was to leave the clouds white. However, when I added a stamped image with black ink, the ink absorbed differently on the inked & un-inked areas. You can see the difference in the picture below:

I had to go back and add some color to the clouds, so that the stamping would be uniform. In the end, I didn’t use this particular piece, but I always love when I learn something new! And I’ve always said that crafting mistakes are just creative opportunities waiting to happen!

Creating the Ground

Next, I pulled out the Postage Collage Wavy Lines Stencils to create the ground, using Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide Ink. Finally, these pieces were ready for some stamping! I used the Postage Collage Golf Silhouettes stamps to create little golf-themed scenes on each piece.

Continuing on, I placed the stamped & stenciled pieces onto a white die-cut Postage Collage, gluing each one into place. Using scissors, I cut them apart and chose three to use on today’s card.

Making the Base

For a great golf-themed card base, and I reached for the Wavy Lines Horizontal A7 Die which makes great customizable backdrops. After cutting an A2 sized white panel with this die, I had six wavy, interconnecting pieces. Each one was ink blended in one of the following Distress Oxide Ink colors:

• Seedless Preserves
• Picked Raspberry
• Scattered Straw
• Dried Marigold

I then splattered those pieces with water, then gold and black paint. I always love the splattered look for landscaping! Once dry, these pieces were glued to a white card base.

Putting it All Together

After arranging the three postage stamps onto the background, I die cut a golfer from black cardstock using Golfing Silhouettes Dies. I placed her on the left side of the card.

The sentiment from Golf Puns was stamped on black cardstock with VersaMark Ink and coated with white embossing powder. After heat setting, it was cut out with the coordinating die and added to the card front.

Finally, I cut three white golf balls with dies from Gone Golfing Die set. These were placed around on the card front.

To finish off the inside of this golf-themed card, I used Postage Collage Air Mail stencil around the outer edges, stamped & embossed a sentiment and added a golf club.

Now, let’s take a look at the next card, which was much quicker to make!

A Classic Masculine Golf Card

For my second golf-themed card, I went in a completely different direction. I chose a combination of green and gray for a more traditional golf-course feel, and I think it gives the card a decidedly masculine look. I used the same stencils as before, this time ink blending with Lost Shadow, Bundled Sage and Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide Inks. The clouds were done with Picket Fence.

I opted to keep this card a bit simpler. Once the images were adhered to the white Postage Collage frame, I stamped some postage marks and then glued it to a black mat. From there, I glued it to a green card base and finished it with a sentiment from Golf Puns.

Finally, the inside was made similar to the previous card. I love having a card ready to go when I need it!

I really like how simply changing the colors can give the same basic theme an entirely different personality. The pink card is bright and playful, while the green and gray version feels a little more sophisticated and understated.

Two Cards, Two Very Different Looks

That’s one of the things I love most about creating handmade cards. You can take the same theme and make it your own simply by changing the colors and the way you put the elements together.
