A Perfect Blend: Three Cozy Cards Featuring Spellbinders’ December Stitching Die of the Month
I am so excited about Spellbinders’ December Stitching Die of the Month, A Perfect Blend, which is available to new club subscribers TODAY! This set features two charming mugs, each holding half of a stitched heart. When arranged together, the heart becomes whole, creating a beautiful visual of connection, warmth, and togetherness. The entire club is all about love and has a spa-like vibe! This month’s Deluxe Caboodle opens up all kinds of creative possibilities and I am swooning!
Today, I used the die set to create a trio of coordinating cards, all sharing the same wintery, vibrant palette: olive green, festive red, and a mix of light and dark mariner blues. Even though they use identical colors, each card brings its own personality and layout to the table—like three friends sharing coffee (or tea), each with their own flavor.
Let’s take a sip and explore all three.
Step 1: Choosing a Perfect Blend Color Palette
I always start my card-making process by choosing a color palette and this time was no different. This involves using my color swatch, a large key ring holding 2” x 4” card stock pieces of all my paper stash. With a small hole punched in each piece, this swatch ring makes life so much easier!
As already mentioned, I chose my color palette of red, olive green and light & dark mariner blue. Initially I didn’t plan on the dark blue, but in the end I needed it to help pull everything together.

Step 2: Die-cutting the pieces
Since I was making three coordinating cards, die-cutting everything turned into quite the production line! Using the hearts and mugs from A Perfect Blend, along with the circle from Stitched Edge Circle Backgrounds, I cut each piece from each color (red, olive & light blue).
Then it was a matter of laying pieces out and mixing up the colors. With a few switcheroos, I finally had my visual concept.

Step 3: Stitching the Hearts
I stitched each heart-half with thread that matched the coordinating circle from my color plan. So the light blue heart got red thread, the olive heart got light blue, and the red heart was stitched with olive. Sounds a bit wild, I know—but trust me, it all came together beautifully. Phew!
Step 4: Choosing a Perfect Blend Background
Choosing the background was easy because I frequent a local coffee shop that has all of the vibes of vintage, rustic charm, and I knew that the Brick by Brick 3D embossing folder was the perfect choice to compliment my cards.

This step is where I ended up needing the dark blue, because all of the extra elements like the floaty heart “steam” and the sentiments were not getting the “look” that I wanted. Too much of one color, and all that 🙂 So, I added the dark blue which pulled everything together.
The sentiment “love you” as well as the banners and heart steam are all included with the A Perfect Blend die set.

A Trio With Personality
Even though each card uses the same stitched mugs and the exact olive, red, and blue color combination, small design choices make each one stand out.
Spellbinders’ A Perfect Blend die set truly lives up to its name. With just one set of dies and a consistent color palette, you can brew up endless variations that feel cozy, connected, and heart-stitched in all the right ways. Be sure to check out the Deluxe Caboodle which has a relaxing spa theme.
