Hi crafty friends! It’s been a while since I posted and for good reason. My dad came down with shingles in his eye and came to stay with my husband and I while he recovered. At 89 years old, it hit him pretty hard despite being vaccinated. I had never heard of ocular shingles until this happened! Yesterday, after 12 days of R & R, he was able to go home. During dad’s stay, I worked behind the scenes when I had time and stitched up some adorable carrots from Spellbinders Stitching Die of the Month, Rooting for You.
If you’re a garden loving crafter, then this month’s clubs are right up your alley! The theme is “Farm to Craft” and it does not disappoint.
Creating a Seed Packet Background
For today’s card, I used the Press & Foil Club, Seed Co. Border for the background, foiling the image with white foil onto Raven ColorWheel Cardstock. I cut this piece down so that it measured 4.25″x 5.25″ and then adhered it to a folded card base measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″. This left a tiny edge at the top and bottom so that I could add the zig-zag border from April’s Small Die of the Month, Pansy Seed Co.

Rooting for You: Stitched Carrots
I then cut out three carrots from Mulberry, Saffron and Carrot ColorWheel Cardstocks. I used some water-based inks to darken the edges of each carrot and then found coordinating DMC threads to stitch them up.
Next, I die-cut some carrot tops from Rainforest and Fern ColorWheel Cardstock, and once again inked the edges with water-based inks. After assembling the carrots and the tops, it was time to arrange them on the background panel. I love how the colors pop against the black!

Finally, I added a sentiment, “Let happiness take root”, which is from the Press & Foil plates, Seed Co. Border. If you’d like to see another garden-themed card, here’s a previous post “I’m Veggie Happy!”
I’m so happy that you joined me today, and I’m glad to be back in my craft-room! Family will always come first, and I’m thankful that I was able to take the time to help my dad when he needed it! I’m rooting for you, Dad!!
Until next time,
~Krista
