We live in a time when gift-giving couldn’t be easier—thanks to the convenience of preloaded gift cards. Just about every store and restaurant offers them, making it simple to personalize a gift for anyone on your list. But presentation still matters! A charming greeting card with a built-in pocket will turn an ordinary gift card into something special.
Spellbinders makes the presentation part effortless with the Essential Envelope Dies and the brand-new Essential Envelope Every Day Add-Ons. Together with the Tabbed Classics Collection, these sets make sharing gift cards more creative, thoughtful, and fun!
Today’s birthday card has a rugged western vibe, thanks to its rich mix of earthy colors—like saddle brown, rusty orange, and golden tan. I love how it captures that warm, rustic feel! Front and center is a handy little pocket, just right for holding a gift card, so your greeting and your gift come beautifully packaged together.

I’ve been using the Essential Envelope Dies for quite a while and first mentioned them here in my “Ripe for the Picking” post. This month’s Tabbed Classics additions excited me because it offers even more designing fun with products I already owned. Spellbinders continues to amaze me!
Let’s make something special:
- My theme and colors were dictated by the designer papers that I chose. I first cut the pocket with the die from Essential Envelopes and assembled it.
- Next, I cut the mosaic paper that sits on top of the envelope. This layering piece is from Essential Envelope Every Day Add-On dies.
- Using more of the Add-On dies, I cut the flowers, leaves and zig-zag trim. Once assembled, I added some Stickles Glitter Glue to the center of the flowers.

- I cut the pocket insert and stamped sentiments from Cats & Pugs Sentiments Stamps. Because these are clear stamps, I was able to curve the “Happy Birthday” sentiment to fit the curvature of the pocket.
- To continue decorating the insert, I cut “for you” with dies from the Essential Envelope set. I used some of the designer paper that was used on the pocket, helping to tie it all together.

- Finally, I placed the pocket with insert onto a panel that was cut from a coordinating design. This was adhered to a vanilla card base.
To summarize…
With the holidays and gift-giving season right around the corner, these products are sure to make a lasting impression. Don’t wait—grab your Essential Envelope and the Every Day Add-On dies today and make something special!
In the near future, I’ll be sharing an example of a customized card that’ll be perfect for an Olive Garden gift card (or your favorite Italian restaurant!) Consider subscribing to my blog so that you don’t miss out!
Until next time,
