I had an absolute blast creating this adorable beach scene for Lawn Fawn’s Challenge #200 — “Celebrating Friendship”! Nothing says friendship like tacos by the sea, right? 🌮🌊 The newest Treat Cart addition had me spec-taco-larly inspired! I mean, come on… puns + tacos + cute critters? That’s friendship magic wrapped in a tortilla! 😄💛

First step: Choose a color palette
For my color palette, I couldn’t resist the pull of bold, tropical vibes—sunny yellow, zesty orange, vibrant lime green, and splashy turquoise set the tone. I added a few grounding neutrals to balance things out, and just like that, I was ready to dive into this bright and beachy scene!
Building the scenery for Tacos by the Sea:
To bring the background scene to life, I combined a variety of products, beginning with the Stitched Simple Wavy Borders Dies. These dies were perfect for creating layered sea waves, which I cut from two shades of coordinating turquoise cardstock. To give the waves extra dimension and movement, I added highlights with a white gel pen.

In addition, I used Simple Stitched Hillside Dies to cut the beach from vanilla cardstock. I ink blended it with Distress Oxide inks in Tea Dye and Vintage Photo before splattering it with paint.
Continuing, I ink blended the sky with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink on a white panel. I left it a bit patchy to mimic a cloudy sky. The sentiment is from Treat Cart Add-On: Tacos and was stamped in the sky with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink.

Creating the cloud outlines, I used dies from Ta-Da Diorama and cut them from a shimmery holographic paper. The cloud dies cut both the outline as well as the solid shape, and I chose to use just the outlines.
The final addition to the scenery was the palm trees. These were cut with Hammock & Trees Dies from brown and green card stocks, pieced together and highlighted with a white gel pen.
Adding the cuteness!
I went with a taco theme for this card because, well… I love tacos! Plus, dinner out with friends usually means heading to our favorite Mexican spot. I’ve never actually had tacos by the sea, but it sounds pretty amazing—and definitely feels like a bucket list moment waiting to happen! 🌮🌊
For the mice and picnic blanket, I used stamps from Crazy Antics. I also used this set for one of my previous posts, Better When You’re Dancing.

To make the cart, bear and menu board, I used the original Treat Cart stamp set. With Treat Cart Add-On: Tacos, I was able to add the cart banner, tacos, hot sauces, chips and menu items.

All of the coloring was done with Ohuhu Alcohol Markers, which are my favorite coloring medium, hands down. I love how well they blend, but even better is the low cost compared to other alcohol marker brands. If you want “all the colors”, this brand is much more affordable!
I hope you’re inspired to craft today!
Until next time,
~Krista
