Hi Friends! Today I thought I’d play along with two different challenges while using Simple Things stamps and dies from The Greetery. I decided to use the “KISS” method on this card- you know…Keep It Simple Stupid, and I was amazed at how quickly I put it together!
The first challenge is from Freshly Made Sketches, sketch challenge #687, shown here:

The second is a color challenge from Color Throwdown, #833, shown here:

Creating with Simple Things…
For the sketch challenge, I needed something with a left sided arch to mimic the moon shape. After searching through my stash, I decided on a set of stamps from The Greetery, called Simple Things. I decided to add a glass bottle as a vase, choosing The Greetery’s Bottled Up set.
Per the color challenge and knowing that the bottle would look great in aqua, I began with that. It is made up of three layering stamps, which creates depth. The first two images were stamped with a light aqua color and the third with a darker aqua shade. It was cut out with the coordinating die.

Next I worked on stamping the eucalyptus, choosing a slate gray color. With this set, I find it easiest to die cut the shape first and then stamp onto that. By placing the white die cut onto a black stamping mat, it’s easy to see where I’m going with the stamp!
Stamping in “generations”…
The foliage required two stamps in addition to the stem. The first foliage was inked up with slate gray and then stamped off onto a scrap, leaving what I call a “2nd generation” of ink on the stamp. This creates a lighter image.
The second foliage stamp was inked up with the same ink as before, but it was stamped full strength, or “1st generation”. This allows for a light and dark shade using only one ink pad!
The stem was stamped with black ink, as was the sentiment which reads, “Simple things are often the best things”.

Keeping simple things, simple!
I chose a subtle red plaid for my background, which allowed the images to really pop!
Finally, the scallop frame was die cut from black card stock and added around the entire card. I debated between a white or black frame, but in the end, black won.
This card came together very quickly, which for me is not typical. I tend to spend hours on my creations and was pleased that this Simple Things card, was indeed simple! Another quick card was featured on my blog in this previous post, and also used products from The Greetery.
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a safe, relaxing Memorial Day Weekend! Let summer camping season begin!! 🙂
Until next time,
~Krista
