September’s Clubs, featuring the Stitching Die of the Month…

Not to be missed is the clever set of Stitched Pumpkin Tops, which will be my focus today. This die set creates a top view of three different sized pumpkins complete with curly-cue stems. The shape is symmetrical and can also be used for flowers, with or without the stitching holes. Don’t you adore having versatility in your craft supplies? I sure do!
During a recent trip to a local craft store, I placed a small pile of variegated DMC threads on the check out counter. The checker commented that she was afraid to use the variegated threads because she wasn’t sure how they’d look. My thought? There’s only one way to find out!
With a pile of die cut Pumpkin Tops and a selection of variegated threads, I sat down and stitched them all! This can be a wonderfully therapeutic activity, offering a calming pause in your day.
Some of the threads I used were monochromatic, changing from light to dark and offering a subtle but pleasing look. Others had a range of different colors and created a more dramatic finish. Overall, it was a fun process and I’m happy with the results! Let’s take a closer look at the finished cards.
Monochromatic Threads…
Both of these cards were made after cutting the pumpkin shapes from Rainforest, Carrot and Lilac ColorWheel Cardstocks. I used three monochromatic DMC threads, #’s 92, 106 & 52. With a longer repeat pattern, these threads created a gradual shift in color.

Assembling the first card, I chose a Lilac card base, slimline sized measuring 8.5” x 3.5”. With a black panel embossed with the Diamond Plaid embossing folder, I placed my Stitched Pumpkin Tops across the card front in a row of five. From the same set of dies, a simple “hello” was die cut from metallic gold paper and adhered at the bottom right corner.

My second card was cut with Essential Envelope Dies which created a perfect pocket in which I placed a tag. Using three of my stitched pumpkins as flowers, I added some foliage from Botanical Atrium dies, and decorated the pocket and tag. The flower centers are the pumpkin stem bases, cut from Saffron and Bees Wax and layered together.

Once again I placed a die-cut “hello” at the bottom of the card, adding a cute sentiment along with it.
Multi-colored Threads…
Continuing on, I next used some multi-colored DMC threads, #4503. I continued using pumpkins that were cut from the same colors as above and found that the multi-colored thread had a more dramatic result.

This card is A2 in size, measuring 5.5” x 4.25” and double matted with an olive plaid and a black spider web print. The pumpkins were placed onto the card and accented with an Autumn Sentiment greeting.
Lastly, I die cut more pumpkins from Lawn Fawn’s Watercolor Wishes paper, choosing yellow, pink and blue. This time I used DMC thread #4050 which has a blue/green variation and was definitely non-traditional as far as pumpkin colors go!

My card base was die cut with Stitched Edge Circle Backgrounds on a mossy green panel. After the center circle and frame were removed, I ran the remaining panel through Pumpkin Patch 3D embossing folder. Replacing the circle and frame, I backed the opening with a soft green cardstock.
Scattering the pumpkins and some fall leaves across the card front, I then added another greeting from the Autumn Sentiments set.
As you can see from today’s cards, I had tons of fun while creating four fall themed greeting cards. If you’ve never tried stitching dies before, September’s clubs are a great one to start with. The stitching club is quick and easy and oh-so-addictive! 🙂
