Riding into the New Year with Good Fortune Horse
There’s something about New Year’s cards that feels extra hopeful, and this one was especially fun to create. I used the Good Fortune Horse from Spellbinders as the star of the show—a perfect symbol of strength, blessings, and forward momentum as we head into a new year.
Finding Inspiration for the New Year
For my color palette, I went with pink and green, inspired by the latest Color Hues Challenge. I loved how fresh and cheerful this combo felt, especially paired with the elegant lines of the white & silver horse. The pinks (Blush & Tutu ColorWheel Cardstocks) add a soft, celebratory touch while the green (Mint ColorWheel Cardstock) brings in balance and a nod to renewal—exactly the kind of energy I like to start the year with.

Putting it Together
The white card base is textured with Brick by Brick 3D embossing folder, which is such a versatile design and one that I turn to quite often!
The sentiment is part of the Good Fortune Horse set and was stamped with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Ranger’s Super Fine Silver Embossing Powder. I hand trimmed around the sentiment before popping it up on the card.

Better Late than Never!
Unfortunately… I didn’t get the card finished in time to submit it to the challenge. 🤷♀️
But honestly? That’s just how it goes sometimes. Life happens, deadlines sneak up, and crafting is still meant to be fun, not stressful. I enjoyed the process, learned a bit along the way, and ended up with a card I really love—and that’s a win in my book.
Even though it missed the deadline, I’m glad I followed the inspiration anyway. The Good Fortune Horse feels right at home on a New Year’s card, and the pink and green color scheme is one I’ll definitely revisit again. If you missed my other New Year themed card, you could see it here: Sparkle & Shine.
Thanks for stopping by, and here’s to creating at your own pace—deadlines or not. Such is life, and that’s okay. ✨
Happy New Year, Crafty Friends!
Until next time,
~Krista
