Waffle Flower Crafts offers stunning sunset silhouettes designed to pair perfectly with their postage-themed dies—they’re incredibly fun to use! These stamps look amazing over an ink-blended background, and when paired with Distress Oxide inks, the results are beautifully seamless.
Offering both tropical and lake scenes, these sunset silhouettes offer a multitude of options! Use them with or without the postage dies for even more options. Today’s four cards are all very similar because I wanted to showcase different color combinations. I made two with Postage Collage Tropical Sunset stamps and two with Postage Collage Lake Sunset stamps.
You can see another example with the Tropical Sunset stamps in my previous post, Classic Road Legends. I placed sunset scenes into the film strip die on the vintage truck card.
I first shared the Postage Collage die in my Wildflower post.
A Closer Look at Sunset Silhouettes
Let’s start by taking a closer look at these silhouette stamps and the postage dies that work with them.
The following products were used for each card:
- Postage Collage Die
- Postage Collage Blocks Die
- Distress Oxide Inks
- Blending Brushes
- Sticky mat for ink blending
- Either: Tropical Sunset stamps or Lake Sunset stamps
- Optional: Postage Collage stamps
Behind the scenes for card #1…

I started by cutting the Postage Collage Blocks Die from black, white and a coordinating color based on my ink choices. For card #1, I used lime green.

I took the black panel and placed it under the Postage Collage Die, running it through my die cutting machine. This creates the postage stamp edges.

After creating the postage frame, as pictured above, adhere it to the lime green frame.

Adding color for the sunset silhouettes…
Now that the framing is complete, it’s time for the fun part! Here’s where we add color to the pieces that came from the white die cut. We’re only using the inner pieces, saving the frame for a future project.
While ink blending, I like my pieces to stay put and have repurposed an old Cricut mat for this purpose. I cut a 12 x 12 mat into four squares and these are just sticky enough to hold my paper pieces.
The Distress Oxide ink colors that I used for this card are Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover and Peacock Feathers.

Finally, we get to stamp some scenes onto these ink blended pieces. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink with the Postage Collage Tropical Sunset stamps. Have fun with this process and stamp away! I like to use my Misti in case I need to re-stamp an image, but that is purely optional.
Once the tropical scenes have been stamped and if desired, you can add some postage marks with the Postage Collage stamps.
Additionally and before assembly, I like to do some ink splattering over the stamped pieces. Most often I use white and black paint, but sometimes I’ll throw in silver or gold as well. Another option would be to add highlights with a white gel pen.
Completing the card…
To assemble, simply adhere the postage frame to a card base and then glue each scene into its proper opening. Completing the card, I added a sentiment banner from Mama Elephant’s Banner Greetings dies. I just love the simple look of these banners!

Let’s take a peek at the remaining three cards which were made in the same way as card #1.
Tropical card #2…

The Distress Oxide ink colors for this second card are Squeezed Lemonade, Saltwater Taffy and Seedless Preserves. Once again, I used a banner from Banner Greetings Dies.
Card #3, with Lake Sunset stamps

For my next two cards, I switched to using the Postage Collage Lake Sunset stamps.
Distress Oxide ink colors used are Dried Marigold, Carved Pumpkin and Crackling Campfire. The sentiment is from Spellbinders Nearest & Dearest stamp set.
Card #4 with Lake Sunset stamps…

This card turned out to be my favorite with its serene pastel colors! I used Distress Oxide inks in Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar and Cracked Pistachio. The sentiment is again from Spellbinders Nearest & Dearest set.
Pick your favorite!
Which card is your favorite today? Do you like the Tropical or Lake Sunset stamps the most? What color scheme speaks most to you? I’d love to hear from you and I hope you enjoyed seeing four different color schemes using the same products.
Until next time,
~Krista
