Today I’m sharing a birthday card that’s as sweet as it looks! It was made with the Fountain Wishes die set from Spellbinders’ Happier Hour Collection, featuring a deliciously detailed ice cream sundae. This set is full of retro soda shop charm and makes it easy to create a card that’s perfect for birthdays or any happy occasion.
As one of Spellbinders’ exciting new arrivals, the Happier Hour Collection is all about celebrating life’s joyful moments in crafty style. This festive lineup features a bubbly champagne glass from A Special Toast, a fiesta-ready margarita from Sip Sip Olé, and—taking center stage today—the scrumptious ice cream sundae from Fountain Wishes. Each design captures a different kind of cheer, whether you’re raising a glass, shouting salud!, or indulging in something sweet.
Step 1: Die Cut the Pieces
Begin by cutting all the elements from your choice of cardstock colors. For my card, I used an iridescent silver for the soda glass, pastel pink, cream, and chocolate brown for the ice cream and toppings. The cherry was cut from bright red cardstock and accented with a small green stem.

Step 2: Assemble the Sundae
Layer the ice cream inside the glass, starting with the bottom flavor and working your way up. Adhere the hot fudge, cherry and a birthday candle to the top. To make it extra special, add a bit of glitter glue to the candle flame for some nice sparkle.
Step 3: Create the Background
Create a playful background with Cascading Streamers embossing folder (sold out) on a vanilla panel. Cut and stack three oval shapes with Essential Modern Ovals, from a dark brown, medium brown and a pink ombre’ paper. Adhere the stacked ovals to the vanilla background and then adhere the sundae.
Step 4: Add the Sentiment
Spellbinders makes it easy to add just the right sentiment with the use of the coordinating BetterPress Fountain Wishes Sentiments. These can be inked with the BetterPress LetterPress System, or foiled with the Glimmer Hot Foil Machine. Use foam pop dots to adhere the sentiment to the card.

And there you have it—a sweet, cheerful birthday card made with the Fountain Wishes die set that’s sure to make anyone’s day a little brighter!
