There’s nothing more delicious than a plate full of cheesy, saucy pasta! Now you can create adorably satisfying greeting cards that feature Spellbinder’s newest collection-Buon Appetito! Let’s carb-load and celebrate these tasty new products!
This collection revolves around pasta, sauces, cheeses, garlic, and other kitchen companions—transformed delightfully into crafting elements. The playful twist of turning ingredients into characters (or “buddies”) lends itself to lighthearted, food-themed cards, party invites, kitchen décor accents, or foodie birthday greetings.
Today I’m introducing Pasta Friends die set, along with Al Dente’ 3D embossing folder and Stay Saucy stamp set. The two cards I’m sharing both feature the cute macaroni characters, complete with legs and arms! Let’s take a closer look.
Card #1
Carb-Load and Celebrate
I couldn’t resist making this playful card with macaroni friends jumping into some delicious cheesy sauce! By adding wiggle eyes to these pasta buddies, their personalities just blossom.

Step 1:
I began with a vanilla cardstock panel onto which I stenciled “cheese sauce” with Rolling Tide stencils and three different Distress Oxide inks (Dried Marigold, Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade). These stencils gave my card the appearance of a cheesy swimming pool. How yummy! 🙂
Step 2:
Next I placed the stenciled panel into Al Dente’ 3D embossing folder, giving the entire panel a lovely texture filled with pasta. This panel was then adhered to a black card base.
Step 3:
After die cutting the macaroni using the Pasta Friends dies, I assembled each one by adding legs, arms and wiggle eyes. I added foam dots to the back of each macaroni and placed them onto the cheesy panel as though they were jumping into a swimming pool.
Step 4:
I selected a playful pasta sentiment from the Stay Saucy stamp set, stamped it onto a strip of red cardstock, and trimmed the ends at a slight angle before adhering it along the bottom of the card.
Step 5:
I used a die from Whale in a Bottle to add some cheesy splashes as the final touch.
Card #2
Sending Macaroni Kisses
The sentiment for this second card made me think of Valentine’s Day, which I know is a long ways off, but that’s the direction I decided to take.

Step 1:
I chose a retired glimmer plate (Hypnotic Background) for my card panel, glimmering it with black foil onto a Saffron cardstock panel. This was adhered to a folded white card base.
Step 2:
Next, I cut a heart from red cardstock and textured it with Al Dente’ 3D embossing folder. With an ink sponge, I rubbed the edges of the heart with black ink and then glued it to the center of the card front.
Step 3:
I cut and assembled another macaroni pal from Pasta Friends. After adding a black bow to it’s “head”, I adhered it to the center of the red heart with foam dots.
Step 4:
Continuing with a sentiment from Stay Saucy, I stamped onto black cardstock with VersaMark ink. The stamped sentiment was then sprinkled with white embossing powder and set with a heating tool. It was then cut out with a label die and adhered across the bottom of the heart, beneath the macaroni friend.
