Available today from Spellbinders is the absolutely wonderful new collection by Mindy Eggen, Classic Road Legends! With multiple die sets, layering stencils, a Betterpress plate and coordinating sentiments, this collection is truly complete!
Classic Road Legends includes dies for a classic car, muscle car, and a vintage truck. In today’s post, I’ll share one card for each of the classic vehicles. Buckle up and let’s take a trip back to the good ‘ole days!

Timeless Truck, from Classic Road Legends
The card’s layout was inspired by the current challenge at Freshly Made Sketches, #685. What a fun sketch!!

I wanted this card to evoke all of the memories of owning a vintage truck and the good times that came with it. To capture that nostalgia, I used “My Life in Pictures” film strip die and Waffle Flower’s Tropical Sunset stamped images in each frame. For the background, I layered a peach rectangle onto a coral panel and embossed them both with Latticework embossing folder. The word strips were gold foiled on black card stock using Cherish This plates and dies.
The body of the Timeless Truck was cut from a turquoise green card stock and then shaded along the bottom edge with Faded Jeans Distress Oxide ink and a blending brush. I placed a post-it note mask under the side-edge of the hood and ink blended it as well.
After completing the truck, I layered it over the film strip and lattice embossed background.
Classic Car, a Classic Road Legends favorite!

My next card features the Classic Car and Speedometer dies and another tropical theme. After die-cutting the speedometer, it was ink blended with Distress Oxide inks to mimic the sun.
The blue sky was embossed with Summertime Waves embossing folder and the “sandy” beach was cut from brown card stock using Simple Stitched Hillside Borders (Lawn Fawn). The palm trees (Hammock & Trees dies, also Lawn Fawn) were cut from black card stock to create a silhouette.
The car body was cut from white card stock and then ink blended with Cracked Pistachio and Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide inks. After assembly, the car was added into the beach scene. I used Classic Sentiments to die cut “Happy Father’s Day”.
Muscle Car, Classic Road Legends

Finally we get to my era of cars, the Muscle Car! In fact, this car looks very much like my first car. Boy does this take me back to the good ‘ole days!
To create the background, I used Dynamic Background stencils, using black ink on a white panel. This was adhered to a red card base. I then used Radiant Starburst Betterpress Plate with red ink and die cut it with a circle die.
After assembling the car and adding some shimmery white stripes to the hood, I placed it front and center over the red starburst and added a “Happy birthday” Classic Sentiment.
I hope it shows just how much fun I’ve been having with the new Classic Road Legends Collection! There’s so much packed into it—it’s super versatile and honestly just a blast to mess around with. If you’re into cool, classic vibes, this collection’s totally worth checking out!
For added nostalgia, use the film strip die like I did for the Timeless Truck card. I first featured the film strip in my previous post: My Life in Pictures, A Filmstrip Die.
Which of my three cards is your favorite today? I’d love to hear from you and thanks so much for stopping by!
Until next time,
~Krista
