A Pasta-tively Charming Card: Mixing Pasta Friends with Seasonal Wreath Foliage
If you’ve ever thought, “You know what my next greeting card needs? Pasta AND Christmas,” then today’s project is about to make your carb-loving heart very, very happy. I dove into my Spellbinders stash and paired the adorable Pasta Friends dies with the versatile Seasonal Wreath Foliage set — and the result is a deliciously whimsical wreath card that celebrates Christmas… and carbs!
The Wreath That Started It All
The Seasonal Wreath Foliage Dies are one of those sets that instantly spark ideas. They’re perfect year-round, but today they became the leafy green base for what might be the world’s only pasta filled wreath. (Let’s just go ahead and call it a fusion craft project.)

I ink blended several Distress Oxide Inks (Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint & Forest Moss) for depth, giving the wreath a full, almost rustic vibe.
The wreath was placed onto a background embossed with Dimpled 3D folder, one of my MOST versatile embossing folders.
Olives + Pasta = True Friendship
Then came the stars: the Pasta Friends dies. I mean… who can resist tiny die-cut bowties and raviolis with adorable faces? They’re the perfect mix of cute and quirky. The Santa hats are from Christmas Rocking Chair die set, and were the perfect fit for these cuties!
I nestled the Pasta Friends around the wreath, adding in some playful olive ornaments and shimmering red ones made with the Gifting Bow dies. I sprinkled a few shimmery white snowflakes here and there for some added sparkle.
Quick tip:
Here’s how I created the pasta cheeks and mouth using the included die:
I die cut the shape from white cardstock, then color it with my Ohuhu markers (any brand of markers will work) as shown: pink at both ends with red in the middle. Then it’s adhered behind the pasta face!

The Banner That Brings the Laughs
To finish it off, I added a cheerful red banner, cut with a die from Lawn Fawn’s Simple Wavy Banners, and stretched it diagonally across the wreath. And what does it say?
“I’ll be home for PASTA”
Is it cheesy? Yes.
Do I regret it? Not for a second. I just couldn’t resist!

To create this sentiment, I had to piece together some words from different stamp sets. “I’ll be home for” is from Lawn Fawn’s Car Critters Christmas Add-On, while “Pasta” is from Spellbinder’s Stay Saucy stamp set. The musical notes are from Lawn Fawn’s Cheesy Christmas. Everything was stamped with VersaMark ink and then sprinkled with white embossing powder. After heat setting the powder, I gently inked the edges with some dark red ink.
The banner ties everything together and gives the card that perfect punchline. It’s the kind of sentiment that makes the recipient smile before they even open the card.
A Fun Wreath Project for Any Season
What I love about this combo is how flexible it is. Swap the colors, change the background, or add different foodie elements — this concept works for birthdays, thank-yous, thinking-of-you cards, or even invitations to a pasta night.
Plus, crafting with pasta-themed dies is guaranteed to put you in a good mood. It’s impossible to be grumpy while assembling a tiny ravioli with a face. Am I right?!?
In closing
If you’re looking for a card idea that’s charming, humorous, and delightfully unexpected, give this pasta wreath a try. Because at the end of the day, silliness combined with crafting is just too fun!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my playful Christmas wreath, and if you want more pasta inspiration, see my previous post: Show Your Love which has a fun accordion fold.
