We’ve been treated to some gorgeous weather this past week, and I’ve finally been able to spend a bit of much-needed time out in the garden. It’s mostly been weeding, but I’ve been enjoying the sunshine as well. It was a joy to hear all of the garden critters buzzing and chirping around which gave me some ideas for today’s card!
Finding my Inspiration:
After spending some peaceful moments outside, I felt inspired to sit down and create a cheerful, nature-themed card. I’m always looking for a challenge to spur me on, but this time, I created my own! I found a picture on Pinterest and decided to use it as my own personal color challenge. The last time I did a color challenge, I missed the deadline (LOL!), so by creating my own, I didn’t have to worry! 🙂 You can see my former attempt here, but this is my color inspiration for today:

I’m also playing along with Just-Add-Ink card challenge #781, “Just Add Wings”. Today’s card has lots of wings!

One final challenge that I decided to play with is from Pick 3 Challenge and I chose Text, Wings, Punches or Die Cut.

Let’s Start with a Frame for the Garden Critters
Now that I had my challenges figured out, I began by cutting the frame using Sunny Studios Comic Strip Speech Bubbles Dies. It was cut from Spellbinders Oceanside ColorWheel Cardstock, because it matched the darker blue shade on my inspiration picture. I cut the inside blocks from some aqua colored patterned paper that I found in my stash.

Adding Some Garden Critters for Cuteness
Next, it was time to create my scene and I chose Sunny Studios Garden Critters stamp set because these cute insects just made me smile. Plus they had lots of wings, which would work for the challenges! After stamping and die-cutting, I pulled out my Ohuhu alcohol markers and colored everything in. By using only the colors found in my inspiration photo, I was able to keep everything cohesive.
*The Ohuhu marker numbers will be listed at the end of this post, in case you’re interested.
After coloring, I arranged things here and there within the frames until I was satisfied. I then glued them into place and added some Stickles Glitter Glue: Stardust to the wings of the bees, dragonflies and butterfly.

The sentiment: Thanks a Buzzillion!
Finally, I was ready to add a sentiment and the Garden Critters stamp set was full of adorable options! (This would become the “script” requirement for the Pick 3 Challenge.) I chose “Thanks a buzzillion” and stamped it onto a word bubble from the Comic Strip Speech Bubbles Dies that I used for the frame. After popping the sentiment up, my card was complete!
I truly enjoyed the process of making this card. I hope it inspires you to get into your craft space and be creative too! Thanks a buzzillion for visiting today!
Until next time,
~Krista
