I certainly save leftover craft pieces and try to use them later on! When I first shared these Sunny Stems Dies from Spellbinders, I mentioned that I had a bunch of leftover pieces. Today I put some of those pieces to good use and created another card! If you missed my original post, you could read it here. But the funny thing is, that I decided to make a second card and ended up with even more leftovers! Such is life 🙂
Using those leftover pieces
Using leftover pieces from my previous card, I assembled another background made in varying shades of pink. These are cut using Sunny Stems Dies, which are Spellbinders January Die of the Month. This card is a shaped card with a front and back, made using the hinge method that I explained in the previous post, mentioned above.

Carrying on, I cut the dog pieces out with Darling Dogs Dies, adding shadows with blender brushes and Distress Oxide Inks. These dies are part of the Sending Hugs Collection by Simon Hurley. Once the dog was assembled and looking adorable, I popped him up on the background and added the sentiment label “Sending Hugs”. With a few scattered rhinestones, this card was complete.
Adding even more leftover pieces
Next, I wanted to create another similar card, but with a different color scheme of aqua blues. Because why continue using pink leftovers, when I could make more leftovers in another color…right? Can you relate?? In any case, I cut a pile with the Sunny Stems dies and pieced together another fan-shaped card base.

For this card, I used the Congrats Cat Dies, cutting the pieces from varying shades of gray. I added some subtle shadows with a blender brush and Distress Oxide Ink and then pieced him together. This die set includes the cocktail glass, while the party hat was pulled from Birthday Bear Dies. I appreciate that all of the accessories for the Sending Hugs Collection are interchangeable.
Finally, after scattering some iridescent sequins, this second card was complete.
I love how January’s Die of the Month, Sunny Stems is compatible with so many other sets. Finding multiple uses for our crafting tools adds value and is important because it allows us to justify buying more. Am I right?
Enjoy today and I hope you find time to be creative!
Until next time,
~Krista
