I’m wrapping up “Christmas in July” by sharing a card made with Spellbinder’s new Country Christmas Collection. Today’s Country Christmas Barn dies allowed me to create this peaceful winter scene with surreal purple tones amid a softly snowing backdrop. I always love a Christmas card in purple and I couldn’t resist using my favorite color with this set of dies!
If purple isn’t your favorite color, just know that this die set creates a lovely country scene when done in traditional colors too!
So let’s look at the details for this Christmas card in purple. I used a piece of Lawn Fawn’s newest paper pack, Gleeful Gradients, as my background, creating a pinkish-purple blend. This gorgeous paper pack is a favorite of mine and was previously shown in my Festive Friends and Gifting Bow posts.
In order to create some texture on the background panel, I used a snowflake embossing folder that I had in my stash. (similar to Spellbinder’s Flurry of Snowflakes)

Next, I chose three of Spellbinder’s purple cardstock colors to make the barn; Violet, Mulberry and Orchid. Adding white snowdrifts and a festive wreath to the barn really helped break up all that purple!
I used a shimmery white cardstock for the snowdrifts, wreath and trees to give the scene a festive, snowy vibe. The etched details add a nice touch of realism and texture that I really love.
One of the standout features of the Country Christmas Barn die set is the versatile barn doors—you can keep them closed, leave them open, or even make them swing open to reveal a surprise inside! I love having that kind of creative flexibility.
Finally, I used a sentiment strip from my Merry Moments Kit, adding it across the bottom of my little country scene. The gold foiling really pops against this Christmas card in purple!

I’ve had an absolute blast cranking out Christmas cards all July—it’s been a flurry of festive fun! But now I’m ready to shift gears and dive back into other themes for a while. I hope all the holiday cheer I’ve shared has inspired you to jump-start your own Christmas cardmaking this year—because there’s nothing better than being ahead of the holiday hustle!
Until next time,
~Krista
