Heat & Stick Stenciling Technique

Heat & Stick Stenciling Technique & Tutorial by Krista Thomas, www.regalstamping.com

I love Stampin’ Up’s Heat & Stick powder and need to use it more often.  After all, glitter adds some major bling to any project, right?  You can make any stamped or sponged image glittery simply by following my Heat & Stick Stenciling technique tutorial  below.  And Heat & Stick makes the glitter STAY PUT.  It’s awesome stuff.

Use temporary adhesive to secure a 4″x 5 1/4″ Smoky Slate panel to your place mat.Lay the diamond pattern from “Happy Pattern Masks” over your card stock and secure it at top & bottom with Scotch tape.
Press VersaMark pad directly onto stencil until all of the diamond openings are coated with ink.

Remove stencil and sprinkle Heat & Stick powder (by Stampin’ Up!) covering all of the inked areas.
They will appear white. Use a heat tool ONLY until the white powder becomes grey. DO NOT OVER-COOK!

100_3500

Sprinkle cooked Heat & Stick with silver embossing powder. Once again, use the heat tool, this time to “set” the glitter. Go over the panel very systematically so that all of the glitter is cooked.

Finally, use a large make-up brush or paintbrush to sweep off any loose glitter.
Finish card as desired.

Here are two more examples using the same technique and layout…

Crushed Curry is used for the flowers on this cards and “WOW!” is from Bravo stamp set.

And this next one did not photograph well, but I’ll share it anyway.  I used black glitter on a black background.  The large flower is Calypso Coral with Real Red and Daffodil Delight in the center.  Leaves and card are Garden Green.
