Mix It Up Stamping Technique

Exotic Botanical Builder Framelits, by Krista Thomas, www.regalstamping.com, Mix It Up Stamping Technique

The Mix Up Stamping Technique came about because I got to thinking about all of the flower stamps that I have that do not have coordinating punches or framelits. What would happen if I mixed things up a bit? I went to my stamp library and was immediately drawn to the retired set, Betsy’s Blossoms. If you don’t own this set, there is a similar stamp in our current catalog in a set called I Think You’re Great.
Look through your flower stamps, background stamps and framelits and see what you can Mix Up!  In the photo below, you’ll see where I cut out the different shapes using the Botanical Builder Framelits.

Find a stamp that is slightly larger than or the same shape as the framelit you’d like to use. Stamp the image and then cut with framelit.  Don’t forget your large background stamps…there are some really nice patterns for this technique!
You are only limited by your imagination and the possibilities are endless.

Botanical Blooms, Missing You!

Botanical_miss_you

Happy New Year to you!  May 2016 bring you happiness, good health and lots of crafting time!  Are you ready to get your fingers inky?  Here we go!

My inspiration for this card came from Pinterest and a card made by Bekka in the UK (here).

I used the new Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper for the background and cut a 2.5″ slit in from the edge, then folded it open to reveal the Old Olive card stock beneath it.  The inside of the card says “Only all of the time!” and I was thinking of my friend Terry who moved to the Oregon coast.

I used the Botanical Builder Framelits to create the rest of the card, sponging where needed.

I have to say that the Mint Macaron color that is used on the Designer Series Paper is not one that I would have ever thought to use with the rest of the colors (Cajun Craze, Hello Honey, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow and Black), but it works and I like it. Mint Macaron one of Stampin’ Up!’s “In Colors” and is the one that I like the least, but it is slowly growing on me.

Botanical Hello

Botanical_hello

I love Stampin’ Up!’s new Botanical Blooms Bundle because it has so many options for flowers and leaves. You can mix and match to your hearts content by layering, sponging, stamping and accenting until you have just what you want. The flower centers are so delicate and add so much visual interest.

I used a black Micron pen to draw some veins onto the petals of the yellow flower. Then I took a sponge dauber and Hello Honey ink and sponged from the center out, about half way into each petal. The edges of the Cajun Craze flower are sponged lightly with Cajun Craze ink and then I layered two black flower centers on top of it.

Botanical Smiles Begin with You

Stampin’ Up!’s new Botanical Garden Designer Series Paper is absolutely beautiful and I’m having so much fun NOT hoarding it! The design that is shown on this card is one that coordinates with the stamp set, Botanical Blooms, so you actually can stamp the details onto the leaves and flowers. Pretty cool, don’t you think? Let me show you how it’s done…

Here’s what the Designer Series Paper (DSP) looks like right out of the package.  You could use it just like this, or you could stamp on it to add the details as shown below…

100_3212

I am using Mossy Meadow ink to stamp the leaf details.

100_3214

Use any of the flower accent stamps on the flowers. I used Cajun Craze ink.  How fun is that?!?
