Paper Towel Stamping Technique

Paper Towel Stamping Technique, by Krista Thomas, www.regalstamping.com, Stampin' Up!, Swirly Bird & Swirly Scribbles

Have you ever noticed the fun patterns on paper towels? (Please tell me I’m not the only one!)  During a class a couple weeks ago, I had an overly juicy pad, so I took several paper towels and folded them up in order to dob off some of the excess ink.  Once the paper towel was saturated, it dawned on me that it might make a cool stamp, so I grabbed a piece of white card stock, laid it on the inky paper towel and gave it a gentle rub.  The result was pretty cool and the Paper Towel Stamping Technique was born.  One of the ladies in class said she could see a future technique class coming and she was right 🙂  Thanks, Jen A., you know me so well!!

Here are the simple instructions so that you can try this in your own stamp room…

You will need some paper towels that have an embossed design on them. We will be using the Kirkland (Costco) brand for this card. Tear off 3 towels and fold them one on top of the other, then in half. You should have 6 layers.
Press a well-inked Soft Sky ink pad directly onto the paper towels several times, creating an area slightly larger than the card stock you will be stamping.

Lay your panel of card stock directly on the inked area of the paper towel and gently rub to transfer the ink. You could instead walk your fingers over the panel as though you were playing the piano. This will give you a mottled look, which will make a nice cloudy sky.

Now go get your paper towel roll, head to the craft room and make something beautiful!

  1. Krista! This is just SO clever!! I just “de-inked” one of my new InColor pads …. and I could have used it for a fun background instead of just “color in the trash”! Love your card … love the inspiration as well!
    Have a blessed new week.
