This card features a new set from the 2017 Holiday Catalog called “Painted Harvest”, available beginning September 1, 2017….that’s TODAY!
In the background is a fun and colorful tie dye technique. Let me show you how it’s done…
Open up a white coffee filter.
Gather up the filter until it is long & scrunched up.
Using a baby wipe, dab Old Olive ink onto the coffee filter in a 1″ section at one end.
Continue dabbing colors onto the filter, using a clean baby wipe for each color and leaving a bit of white showing in between each color. You will need to turn the scrunched coffee filter over and dab it from the other side in order to get the ink through all of the layers. Here we have Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze.
Open up the filter and check to see if there are any spots that need more ink. If so, scrunch it back up and add the needed ink.
If it looks good, then allow it to dry.
Use a glue stick to cover a white panel measuring 5″ x 3.75″.
Lay the panel onto your dried filter, glue-y side down. Rub to adhere.
Using your glue stick again, cover the back side of the same white panel.
Fold the edges of the filter onto the glue-y panel. Glue all 4 sides down, keeping your corners nice and square.
Turn panel over and admire your beautiful tie-dye!
When I stamped the sunflower, I used Crushed Curry for both the first and second layer stamps, and then did a third layer with Pumpkin Pie. The center is stamped with Cajun Craze and the entire flower is cut out with scissors. Both layers of the leaves are stamped with Old Olive and then punched out with the new Leaf Punch (#144667). Glitter Enamel Dots are used as accents on the tie-dyed background.
