I was so thrilled to see the Beautiful You stamp set in the new Occasions Catalog, because I had sent Stampin’ Up a request to create something similar to the retired “Summer by the Sea” and “Seaside Wishes”. Those were sets from many years ago and were always a favorite of mine. Whether this new set came into being because of my request, I’ll never know. But it’s nice to think that maybe it did.
Beautiful You pairs well with So Detailed Thinlits, which was used for the lacy black background. I chose red, black and white as my colors simply because I’ve always thought they were so elegant and rich together. In fact, 33 years ago when my husband and I were planning our wedding, those were the colors I wanted to use. My husband didn’t like that idea, so we thought it would be fun to get “Dear Abby’s” advice. We made an agreement that whatever her answer was on those colors, we would go with. Problem solved! So we wrote her a letter and asked what she thought about a wedding in red, black & white. (Red dresses on the bridesmaids, black tuxedos on the groomsmen and the bride & groom in white). I still have her return letter with the answer tucked away in a scrapbook. She said those colors would be considered “tacky” and in poor taste for a wedding. To this day I disagree! But, I’d made a deal, so we changed our colors to pink, grey & white. What a story, right? For this card, I did it my way!!
