Flourish Thinlits in Brights

Flourish Thinlits in Brights by Krista Thomas, www.regalstamping.com

Beautiful bright colors are what I love, so that’s what I used on this card which was made with the Flourish Thinlits.  The colors are Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive and Whisper White.  If you are a new stamper, or are just getting started with Stampin’ Up! products, you might be wondering…

Which color family should I start with?

That’s a question I am often asked when someone discovers the joy of creating with Stampin’ Up! products.  And my answer always comes in the form of a question.  Which colors are you most drawn to?  You can usually look at your wardrobe to figure that out.  We buy clothing in colors that we are comfortable in and that we look good in.  For me, the “Bright” colors are what I love the most.

What should my first Stampin’ Up! order consist of?

Start with an assortment of ink pads in the color family that you love, plus black, which is a staple color that you cannot do without.  The Stampin’ Up! color families are Brights, Regals, Subtles & Neutrals.  Purchase an ink pad family as an assortment and you save money, essentially getting one pad free.  Then add an assorted pack of card stock in the same color family, plus Whisper White, another staple item.  Finally, choose a stamp set that you love and assuming you already own scissors, glue and a paper trimmer, you’ll be set to go!

What are the differences between photopolymer, clear mount and wood mount stamps?

If you have the 2016-17 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, there is a good explanation on page 2, but if you don’t have a catalog handy, here’s an explanation.

Classic red rubber is available as:

  1. a clear mount option, meaning that you will need to mount the stamp onto a reusable clear block (sold separately).
  2. a wood-mount option which means your stamps will each have their own maple wood block.  Mount them once and they’re always ready to go!

Photopolymer is a clear, see-through option which you will need to mount onto a reusable clear block (sold separately).   They are generally the least expensive option.

Finally…

I must admit that you’ll eventually want all of the Stampin’ Up! colors because they work beautifully together with hundreds of different combinations.  You can mix & match colors at SU Colorlabs, here.  Head on over there and see which combinations inspire you!

I hope you stamp today…
