Custom Silhouette Stamping & Watercolor Striping Techniques

Watercolor Striping with Fabulous Flamingo

I was impressed by a card made by Elizabeth Price over at Seeing Ink Spots and I had to give it a try.  Thank you Elizabeth, for a beautiful background idea!

Here’s how I did it:

Stripe1

On watercolor paper, sponge three different colors in a striped fashion, from one end of the paper to the other.

Today we’re using Bermuda Bay, Flirty Flamingo and Lemon Lime Twist.

Cover the entire panel, alternating colors.

Watercolor striping

Use an aqua painter (water pen) to draw stripes across the sponged panel, going over each stripe 2 or 3 times.

Leave a little space between each water stripe. Allow to dry before stamping the flamingo onto the panel.

Watercolor striping

If you’re feeling a bit adventurous, you can make a wavy pattern instead of straight stripes.

Watercolor striping

Stamp the flamingo onto the dry panel. Fill in (blacken) any area that you can see through. This is “custom silhouette-ing”  and can be done with any stamp and a black Sharpie.
