I have been stamping for 23 years, 15 of them as a Stampin’ Up demonstrator. In all of those years, I have accumulated hundreds of flower stamps, but never a succulent. Because of my flower stamp stash, I tend to overlook new flower stamps unless it’s something new and different. When I opened the 2017 Occasions Catalog and saw the beautiful Oh So Succulent set, I knew I had to get it. It has so many different stamps and framelits that the possibilities are endless and I have had so much fun creating with them. Succulents seem to be popping up all over the place these days, so it’s definitely trendy and I am enjoying them! I even went so far as to decorate my guest bathroom with them!
Beautiful, Oh So Succulent
This card was one that I made for my Creative Card Design classes in January and I used the same color scheme that was featured in the Occasions Catalog. I added a dark green panel in Always Artichoke as the background, so that the succulent colors would really pop. The sentiment was embossed in white on the Rich Razzleberry panel. The iridescent sequins were leftovers from a Paper Pumpkin kit.
Speaking of Paper Pumpkin…
If you’re not familiar with Paper Pumpkin, it is a paper crafting kit that arrives as a monthly surprise in your mailbox. It always includes a stamp set, ink spot(s), adhesives and all of the components for that months project. Every month it’s something different and always comes as a surprise. I decided to play along with the Global Design Project Challenge #GDP066 and I knew immediately which stamp set I would use. I chose Oh So Succulent from the upcoming 2017 Occasions catalog, a stamp set that I didn’t really think I needed, but ordered on a whim and I’m so glad I did! While it could be considered “just another flower set”, it just has a different feel to me and I think it’s going to have lots of possibilities.
The Global Design Project #GDP066 is a sketch challenge, which is my favorite type of challenge because it allows more free reign with colors, stamps & accessories. Here’s the sketch:
I have been sticking to a particular color scheme for my last couple of posts because I’m working on some display items, so this card included some of those colors: Old Olive, Cajun Craze and Copper Foil. I kept this card really clean and simple, which is usually not my style, but I think it turned out pretty good!
I hope you like it!
If you liked my last Dragonfly Dreams post, then you’ll probably like this one as well! I used the same color scheme but added some more new products, including the Window Box Thinlit Die (to make the circle behind the dragonfly) and the Oh So Succulent bundle (for the flowers at bottom left).
These products will be available in January 2017 when the new Occasions Catalog goes live on the 4th. That’s also when Sale-a-Bration starts, meaning FREE products for every $50 that you spend. If you’re on my mailing list, be watching for your new catalogs to arrive sometime before Christmas. For those who do not have a demonstrator and would like copies of the new catalogs, drop me a comment with your mailing address and I’ll get them out to you as soon as my shipment arrives.
