Open Me Already, Clean & Simple

Open Me Already, Balloon Adventures & Pop-Up Thinlits, Stampin' Up

If you’ve been following my blog lately, you already know that I am smitten with this Balloon Pop-Up Thinlit!  Since I discovered it late in the catalog cycle, I’m making up for lost time and using it a lot.  I just can’t get enough of it!

See the present on the front of the card?  It’s made with one of the little dies in the set.  It just cuts the bow and leaves the rest of the panel below it intact. So if you lay the die at the top of a 2″ wide strip, you get a gift that can be any length you desire.  Layer some designer paper on it and it looks like a present that anyone would love to tear into!

I kept this card pretty simple since it’s one of the projects we’ll be making in my Clean & Simple class.   The balloons are stamped directly on the white pop-up panel in Emerald Envy, Tangerine Tango and Pacific Point.

This fun bundle is only available while supplies last, up until May 31, 2017.  After that it’s gone for good…sniff, sniff…

Because the dies are 50% off (only $16.50) it’s cheaper to order them separately from the stamp set, NOT as a bundle.  Click on the product pictures below if you want to head over to my store and purchase them.  Don’t forget the Confetti Textured Embossing Folder which I used on the front of the card.  It’s also discounted to a cool $3.75, while supplies last.

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Card Base: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ (Crushed Curry)
Pop-Up piece: 5 1/4″ x 8 1/4″ (Whisper White)
Front Panel: 5 1/4″ x 4 ” (Whisper White)
Gift Piece: 3 1/2″ x 2″ (Tangerine Tango) and then die-cut

Balloon Pop-Up Thinlit Card with Instructions

Balloon Pop-Up Thinlit Dies and Balloon Adventures stamp set in Oregon Duck colors!

Balloon Card in Oregon Duck colors!

On my last post from April 30, I showed you a Shadow Box Technique using this same Balloon Pop-Up Thinlit and I promised to show you what the die is actually made for.  So here we are today and I’m going to show you how fun and easy this is to do AND the die is currently 50% off while supplies last!  After viewing this, be sure to head to my store and purchase your own!  You can order them by clicking on these links: Balloon Pop-Up Thinlit and Balloon Adventures stamp set.

So let me show you how this thing works!  First you’ll need a piece of card stock that measures 8 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ and you’ll fold it in half (or score at 4 1/8″).  I have highlighted the fold in red so that you can see it better, but you would not do this on your real card.  Good lighting over your Big Shot is a must for seeing the fold while lining it up!

Next you will line up the die with the red line.  The blue arrows show where to line things up.  The die should hang off the top and bottom of the card equally.

How to use the Balloon Pop-Up Thinlit by Stampin' Up

Run this through your Big Shot…

This is what you’ll get after it’s cut…you can see where the red line is and that becomes a “mountain” fold (up) while the score lines created by the dies edges become “valley” folds (down).

If you want to do any stamping, do it now, before you glue the pop-up panel to your card.  Balloon Adventures stamp set is made to coordinate with this, as is the Balloon Bouquet punch. When you’ve finished stamping, you’ll adhere the two side panels to a card measuring 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ which has been folded in half.

Wasn’t that easy?  Here’s the finished card again…

I used the Confetti Textured Impressions Embossing Folder as a frame around the balloon.  It’s currently on sale for $3.75 while supplies last.

I hope you make time to stamp today!

Shadow Box Technique with Balloon Adventures Bundle

Balloon Adventures Shadow Box Card, Stampin' Up, 3D card

This is a very easy and fun technique which enables us to use dies in new ways and that’s ALWAYS a good thing!  I was inspired by a card made by Dawn Griffith here.  She’s so talented and I always like her ideas.

Shadow Box Card, step 1

For your card base, cut a 5 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ panel.

Score on the 10 1/2″ side at 1/2″, 4″, 4 1/2″ & 8″.

Shadow Box step 2

Place your Balloon Pop-Up Thinlit between the 1/2″ & 4″ score lines. The thinlit is taller than the card stock, so just even it up with equal parts hanging off the top and bottom.

Run through your Big Shot.

Shadow Box step 3

Fold inwards on all score lines. See picture.

Glue the 1/2″ strip to the facing panel as shown.

Shadow Box step 4

This is now what your card will look like.

Adhere a panel measuring 4″ x 5 1/2″ to the partial front of the card.

Shadow Box step 5

Once that front panel is glued into place, this is how your card will look from the inside.

To clean up the appearance and give yourself a place to write a sentiment, glue a 3 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ panel to the inside, left.  Here’s another look at how I finished the inside on my balloon card…and I stamped some confetti to dress it up and make it fun!

Balloon Adventures Shadow Box Technique card, Stampin' Up, Occasions 2017

If you want your own Balloon Adventures bundle, get them before they’re gone.  They’re available while supplies last until May 31, 2017 and then they’re gone for good.  Right now, the framelits are 50% off, making them only $16.50, so it’s actually cheaper to NOT buy the bundle.  The Balloon Adventures stamps are regular price, $26 (#142823) and the Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits are $16.50 (#142753), for a total of $42.50.  That’s a savings of $10.50.  Not bad at all!  And don’t forget the awesome Party Animal Designer Series Paper (#142738), it’s on sale for $6.60 while supplies last!

Come back for my next post and I’ll show you what the Balloon Pop-Up die is actually intended to do…it’s pretty cool!

Playful Pals Party Elephant

Playful Pals Party Elephant with Balloon Adventures, Stampin' Up! and Pyramid Pals Framelits

I love this fun set of stamps and dies and was very sad to see it on the retiring list.  It will only be available for purchase while supplies last, up until May 31, 2017.  After that, it’s gone for good.  There are so many animals that can be designed with Playful Pals and this cute elephant is one of them!

I was inspired by a card on Pinterest that was made by Julie Kettlewell here.  She did a little jungle scene on her card, but I decided to make this one a party scene, complete with balloons.

Check out the inside of the card and then I’ll share how I made the tri-fold card base.  And yes, I accidentally smeared some yellow ink on the back of one ear.

And another view…

Playful Pals, Pyramid Pals Party Elephant, Stampin' Up!

Doesn’t he have just the cutest little tush?!

If you’re wondering how I made the tri-fold card base, here are the details.  The window panel is Soft Suede and measures 4 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ with a score at 1/4″, parallel to the 5 1/4″ side.   I cut the window using a square framelit and then stamped both sides with the Hardwood background stamp inked with Early Espresso.   The little 1/4″ fold goes behind the left side of a  Wild Wasabi panel measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″.  The Wild Wasabi panel is then glued to the left inside of a Garden Green base cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and folded in half.

Don’t miss out on owning Playful Pals (the stamps) & Pyramid Pals (the framelits).  You can order your own just by clicking on the pictures below, which will take you to my Stampin’ Up store.  If you have kids, they’ll love creating their own little creatures!  And if you want it for yourself, that’s okay too.  I’m enabling you!
