This card was designed for a recent Christmas workshop and it’s design is perfect for this week’s Global Design Project challenge #GDP054. I chose to use This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper because of it’s traditional Christmas colors, making it a good choice to pair with the holly. I stamped the holly in three steps. First I used Early Espresso ink for the outline, then Garden Green for the leaves and finally Real Red for the berries. The photopolymer stamps in Holly Berry Happiness are clear, making it easy to line up. I chose a sentiment from Wrapped in Warmth and stamped it with Real Red ink. Gold Glimmer Paper was used as an accent.
This week will be a quiet one for me as I don’t have any classes scheduled, and I will delve into my pile of new goodies from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday 2016-17 Catalog. I am hoping to create some fun projects for my upcoming Christmas Stamp Camp but sometimes when I am not working under pressure, I simply cannot find my creative mojo. Does anyone else have that problem? I really hope that’s not the case this week, but if it is, then I guess I’ll switch gears and go work in the yard. We’re suppose to have some beautiful weather in western Oregon and until the rain sets in, there’s much to be done outside.
I hope I’ll have some projects to share with you as the week progresses…
Cold weather will be here before we know it, and with Stampin’ Up’s Cable Knit Dynamics Textured Embossing Folder (#143537), you can dress up your cards in warmth and style. This new folder works a little differently than it’s predecessors, because it is made with thicker plastic, creating a deeper impression. To use it, you simply eliminate one of the cutting plates for your Big Shot. Place your card stock in the folder, lay it on the white base platform and cover it with one clear cutting plate. Crank it through your Big Shot and prepare to be amazed!
When I first got my Cable Knit Dynamics Folder, I ran a bunch of different colored panels through it and then filed them away for future use. When I get going on a card, I simply pull out the desired color and it’s already embossed and ready to use!
What a pair…
Two stamp sets that really seem to work well together, are Holly Berry Happiness (#142061) and Wrapped in Warmth (#142054). The sayings in Wrapped in Warmth have a rustic look to them which pairs well with the holly leaves and berries. The Holly Berry Builder Punch (#141843) works like a breeze, making quick work with no fussy cutting. It is offered in a bundle with the stamp set for a 10% discount over ordering them separately.
