Two Barn Doors are Better Than One

Two Barn Doors card, 2018 Stampin’ Up Occasions by Krista Thomas

If one barn door is good, then two is better, right?  I thought it would be fun to create a larger opening using this new bundle, found in Stampin’ Up’s 2018 Occasions catalog, and I still wanted the doors to slide open.

Here’s what’s behind the sliding doors:

Barn Door Bundle & Hedgehugs, Stampin’ Up! 2018 Occasions

It’s that cute Hedgehug stamp set again!  This time I used both hedgehogs, one in Powder Pink, the other in Soft Sky and both with Early Espresso ink.  They are fussy cut (with scissors) and glued onto a Crumb Cake panel that is 3 7/8” x 2 1/2”.
Even though I wanted a bigger opening and thought that having two doors would make it so, it didn’t turn out that way because the runners behind the doors prevented it.
Next time I’ll try adding the hardware on the outer edges and make the barn doors swing open.  Where there’s a will, there’s a way!
Since I wrote this post, I found this card by Debbie Henderson, so I guess great minds think alike!

Barn Door Surprise

www.regalstamping.com, 2018 Occasions Stampin’ Up!

When I was in grade school, I had a friend who lived on a dairy ranch and of course they had a big barn.  It was always full of cows and we really weren’t suppose to play in or around it, but one day we decided to climb the fence and take a peek.  Lo and behold, we discovered a big bull staring right at us and we frantically ran back to the fence to escape what we were sure would be sudden death if he decided to charge.  Thankfully we survived (LOL) but we had a wonderful story of bravery to tell at school the following week and of course it was greatly embellished! HA!

When I saw this Barn Door stamp set in the new Occasions Catalog, I couldn’t resist it as I began thinking of all the fun things that could be hiding behind it.  For this card, I decided to use a cute hedgehog from the new Hedgehugs stamp set. (Because who wants to see a scary bull?!!)

The barn door slides on it’s runners to reveal the cute hedgehog as shown below.

Barn Door & Hedgehugs, Stampin’ Up! 2018 Occasions

The panel behind the hedgehog was stamped using the Waterfront set to create sky, sun and grass and I think it’s a set is going to be very popular.  You can see this beauty a bit better in my previous post, here.
