I have had a box of Brusho Crystal Colours since before Stampin’ Up began carrying them in the current 2018 Occasions Catalog, but I had not really experimented them much until recently. I am so happy that I finally did! The cards I’m sharing today feature the rose stamp from Graceful Garden and I used gold embossing powder to give them a rich, timeless look.
Once they were heat embossed, I used an Aqua Painter and got just the rose petals really wet. The water was literally puddled and the embossed lines create a “fence”, keeping the water where you put it. Then came the fun! I sprinkled Brusho Crystals over the wet rose. For the first rose, I used Scarlet Red, Orange & Yellow, keeping the darker colors more towards the center. Then I walked away and let the water do it’s thing, allowing it to mix & mingle and finally to dry. Then I wet the leaves and stem and sprinkled Leaf Green & Emerald Green Brusho and then allowed for more time to dry. If the rose isn’t quite dry when you sprinkle the green crystals, you may end up with some green color in the rose petals, as I did, but I still love how it turned out. It’s just so hard to be patient sometimes!!
The card base is Peekaboo Peach with a Tangerine Tango mat embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder.
Next up is my blue rose done in the same fashion but using Ultramarine Brusho. The background panel is Concord Crush embossed with Trellis embossing folder.
And finally I made a yellow rose which is backed by a Daffodil Delight panel on an Emerald Envy card base. I accented the rose and background with a few Glitter & Epoxy Shapes and wrapped the panel with some Emerald Envy ruched ribbon.
The thing I love about Brusho Crystals, is that each color contains many colors which when completely wet, create the desired color. For example, if you look at the blue rose, you’ll see areas that appear turquoise but are just part of the blue crystals. I love the color combinations within each bottle and the surprising drama unveiled when they’re mixed with water. I hope you’ll try some Brusho fun today!
I would love to know which card & rose color is your favorite. Here are all three shown side by side.
Please leave a comment and tell me which one you like best and I’ll see you next time!
