When I was a little girl, my parents had a red Volkswagen Beetle (aka “bug”) and it was the only car that they had. I had two siblings, so the five of us went everywhere in that VW. Vacations, camping, grocery shopping, you name it, that car took us. My sister & I used to fight over who would sit in the “back-back” as we called it. In those days nobody wore seat belts, so the back-back, which is basically the trunk on a VW bug, was fair game. We didn’t own a full-sized car until I was in 6th grade and that little car was getting mighty tight!
When I saw Stampin’ Up!’s new set, Beautiful Ride, I knew that I had to get it. And while the car in this picture isn’t red, you can bet your bottom dollar that I’ll be making a red one soon.
I added the sunset which was made with the new Sunburst Thinlit. It measures 2″ x 4″, but it started out as a 5.25″ x 4″ panel. I’ll show you in a few days what I did with the rest it. I used my aqua painter to color the car and people and popped both up with dimensionals. The trees were made with the Ronald McDonald stamp set “Sprinkles of Life” and the coordinating punch, Tree Builder. When you purchase this stamp set, Stampin’ Up! donates $3 to the Ronald McDonald Foundation, which gives families a home away from home when their child is in the hospital. I love that Stampin’ Up! supports such a worthy cause.
Last year my parents bought another VW and while it’s not a bug, I’ll bet you can guess what color it is! Red, indeed!
