Happy Blooming Birthday!
Do you sometimes find inspiration for a project from unexpected places? I do and it happened for this card! I had just returned from my sister’s house and was putting away some crafting things while thinking about a card I wanted to make. My only dilemma was on the color scheme and as I reached to put away a “Thirty-One” bag, inspiration hit! It was from this bag that I chose my project colors:
My inspirational process…
My friend, Penny S., had recently commented that we hadn’t used her favorite stamp set in class for a while. She was right, so I knew that I wanted to use Flower Patch and it’s coordinating framelits, Flower Fair. I remembered that my downline and team member, Marie Green, had made a beautiful card with this set, so I refreshed my memory with her blog post found here and this Happy Blooming Birthday card is what happened. I shamelessly CASEd her layout (Copy And Share Everything)!
Satisfaction is a great feeling!
I was very happy with the results which made me fall in love all over again with this fabulous set! I’m so glad that Penny prompted me to use it again!
The colors I used were Rich Razzleberry, Sweet Sugarplum, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Tip Top Taupe and Early Espresso. Silver sequins and thread add a little bling, which every project can benefit from while the espresso background is embossed with large polka dots.
I hope you stamp today! See you next time.
Best Fishes, Jar of Love
I created this card for a workshop where participants got to make five pieces of “card candy” which is simply a creative element that can be put onto a card or scrapbook layout. During the workshop, one of our projects was this fish in a jar which was then layered on top of the squares. Then I showed how it could easily be added to a card. The ladies who attended the workshop loved the card candy idea because they got to play with lots of different stamps and accessories from the new annual catalog and they went home with ideas to finish their projects.
Now for some fun trivia regarding goldfish…
I was visiting my sister who lives on a cattle ranch and she told me that they put goldfish in the watering troughs to eat the mosquito larva. Who knew?!
What would you put into your jar of love?
This stamp set includes several things that can be put inside the jar: flowers, fire flies, fish or gum balls. Use a little imagination and you can come up with all kinds of things. You could even leave the jar empty and use the sentiment “Life feels empty without you”. How about making a shaker card, then filling the jar with heart confetti and including the sentiment “Bless your heart”. The possibilities are endless!

Pool Party 3/8″ (1 Cm) Glitter Ribbon
Stampin’ Up! Flourishing Phrases and the coordinating Flourishing Thinlits is destined to be one of my all-time favorites. The thinlits can be used without the stamp set, and with amazing results, I might add. But together with the stamps, it’s out of this world!! As you can see on this creation, the background is stamped while the focal point is a flower made with the thinlits.
For this card I paired our new In Color, Peekaboo Peach, with Tangerine Tango, Old Olive and Soft Suede. The Layering Squares Framelits are stacked as a background for the die cut flower. The card is accented with gold baker’s twine (now retired) and gold sequins.

Gold Baker’s Twine
This card features the new Stampin’ Up! Best Birds Bundle which includes two bird stamps and five bird framelits. It’s a fun set with all kinds of possibilities and with a grandson on the way, I couldn’t resist making this baby shower/congratulations card. The mom & dad birds were stamped on watercolor paper and then colored in with an aqua painter, Sweet Sugarplum & Dapper Denim ink. The framelits for the birds and the branch make this a very quick and easy card with no fussy cutting whatsoever.
I used a retired set called Banner Banter for the “cute baby” banner at the top.

Featured stamp set, Best Birds bundle, Stampin’ Up!
Today was my first Stampin’ Up workshop with the new 2016-17 catalog and I only had one day to prep for it since my new goodies only arrived Tuesday afternoon. Fortunately the creative process went smoothly and I was able to showcase a number of new products that the ladies fell in love with. The Best Birds bundle was one of the featured sets and we made a small project with it which I’ll share in a later post. I found that the best way to color these birds is with a sponge and a couple of ink pads. For this robin I used Real Red, Soft Suede and Early Espresso.
The background stamp is kind of mesh-y but when I first used it, I called it the hashtag stamp and the name stuck. That’s just what it looks like…a bunch of hashtags! The saying on the front is from the Jar of Love stamp set, while the inside saying is from Layering Love.
I’ll show you some more fun cards featuring new stamps over the next days, so check back often. Until next time, have fun stamping!
Every year Stampin’ Up! introduces 5 new In Colors based on what is trending and they are available for two years. As a demonstrator, I always get excited to see what our new colors will be and then I have the joy of creating with them! Sometimes it takes time for me to warm up to the new In Colors, but this year I was immediately drawn to all of them. Let me introduce you to them as they are shown on this card, starting at the top. They are: Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugarplum, Emerald Envy and Dapper Denim.
I used a stamp from Over the Rainbow to create the back drop for this flamingo, which is from Pop of Paradise. The flamingo is fussy-cut with scissors and then popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment (hello) is from Watercolor Wishes which is only available with the All-Inclusive Watercolor Wishes card kit on pages 8 & 9 of the new Stampin’ Up! 2016-17 annual catalog.

As a Creative Crew team member on SplitCoastStampers, we had to design a card for the June gallery using a favorite color combination from the new Stampin’ Up 2016-17 Annual Catalog. I chose colors from the layout on pages 138-139, which features the Blooms & Bliss Suite.
As a fun backdrop for the Garden in Bloom flowers, I used a couple glittery swirls made with the new Swirly Scribbles Thinlits and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. I also used two of the new 2016-18 In Colors, Dapper Denim and Sweet Sugarplum, as well as a 2015-17 In Color, Mint Macaron. I used a splatter stamp from the Swirly Bird stamp set for the background. We’ll be making this card in my June Creative Card Design classes.
After taking a few pictures of the card, I left it on my craft room table where it was later found and eaten by my grand-puppy. I hope you like it as much as she did!!
